Malick was finally found and killed by Bronson and her security squad (with an M-22 Assault Rifle) after he had hacked the last Sim Unit, turning control of XERXES over to the Many. Malick, seemingly in a moment of clarity, reprogrammed three TriOptimum Cyborg Assassins to flee from danger, and gave each of them a chip that could reverse Malick's damage to the Sim Units, stating, " A smart hacker always has a backdoor." His mental state would continue to deteriorate as his will was overtaken by the Many.
He also laid traps to prevent Bronson's men or the Ops crew from reversing his sabotage.
